BTS products

Since 2013 BTS - acronym of Bangtan Sonyeondan - have slowly made their way up to the fame road, reaching veteran idols like Big Bang, and even surpassing them!
One of the few artists that really broke into the American Market, BTS have one of the widest fandom and a lot of collaborations with brands. We thought about making a list of products made in collaboration with BTS that you can actually purchase in South Korea using our service

VT x BTS Cushion

The Cosmetic brand VT, famous for their cushions, decided to release a cushion in collaboration with BTS. There were two versions, the black one and the white one. Both came with poster, special cards and stickers to personalize your compact case!

VT x BTS Toothpaste

2 Jumbo toothbrush and toothpaste were released, obviously one set in black and one in white. The set comes with a beautiful box with the picture of our favorite guys, plus more postcards for you. The set is still available!

PUMA BTS  Court Star

Puma jumped on the wagon on the international brands collaborating with BTS. This time they made them sign two shoes, obviously black and white as well. They are still on stock, but they are a bit pricey. Some clothes are also part of the collection; there are hoodies and T-shirts, with the logo that recalls "Spring Day".

LINE x BTS

From T-Shirts (that are in American Sizes) to dolls and collectibles, Line made our guys draw some cartoon characters and made them into cute dolls and stickers that we can carry around with us. The key chain are especially cute!
Did you know that each character has been made and named by each member of BTS? Our favourite is Koya, Rapmon's doll!

MEDIHEAL x BTS

Those are surely a huge hit in Korea. The skincare brand Mediheal has partnered with BTS to give us four types sets:  hydrating, brightening, moisture barrier, and soothing skin. Each mask is divided in four sets with different styles. PDF Mask: stands for pure derma factor and it's A medicated face mask specifically formulated to heal and soothe irritated, troubled skin.D.NA Mask (like their song) stands for defense natural aquaring proatin mask.
W.H.P Mask: stands for Whitening And Hydrating Power Mask. N.M.F Mask: Stands for natural moisturizing factor. Last one is the Tea Tree mask featured in each set.

JSMD Bulletproof Boy Handcream

Various sets (a black one and a white one) were launched, and went soldout in few weeks! While we wait for some new handcreams that will actually smell like them, read on for some more news and interesting articles on our blog!

8 "Weird things" in korea

If you come to Korea for a small trip or a relatively small amount of time, you really have to be aware that there are some things that might be considered"slightly" weird for western people. While if you decide to live in Korea for a longer period of time you will sure encounter bigger differences and get used to this, we thought it could be fun to introduce to you some of things that are common only in Korea!

Western Music is non-existent
Well, not really non existent...it depends from the place where you go. But as a foreigner living in Korea, I noticed that I'm exposed to korean music more than western music, to the point that I don't even know what's the new music in my Country.

Everyfood has a "chain" or a "brand"
The first time I ordered chicken with a korean friend I was asked "so what BRAND do you like?". For me brands are Versace, Luois Vuitton or whatever... but in Korea I soon found out that there are brands or Chains of restaurants almost for every style. There are several coffee shop chains, several sangyeopsal o Takgalbi restaurant chains....there is even a famous Only Mandu Chain here in the Mapo Area (Mapo Mandu, by the way...I really love it.). Some chains are so famous they even have sponsored testimonial! For example, Kyochon, a famous chicken wings brand, has Lee Minho as testimonial.

Convenience store everywhere opened 24/7
I'm sure that every Country has their 24/7 open shops or store, but the thing is, in Korea they just are EVERYWHERE and at a walking distance from one another. They not only sell food and snacks, but also random stuff as utensilies, stationery, beauty product, complete meals, elechtronic devices and they often have a snack/dining area to cook your meal! One thing that I love is that you can buy premade cups with ide and a a small tetrapack bag with something to drink, then put it together and...voilà, you have your drink! Just in case it's past midnight and coffee shops are not open....

Toilet Paper
You know Kitchen Towel? Kleenex? disponsable tissue? Well, koreans know them too, but everywhere you go you will probably find toilet paper instead of everything else. Why? If you think about it, Toilet paper is...still paper.

Water and Side Dishes are free
Wherever you go, whatever you order...you will receive kimchi, a soup ans some other small plates with vegetables or fermented stuff. Those are called Banchan and they're all free. Always. Together with Water, that it's mostly self-service.

Toilets
Public Toilets in Korea are clean and free, most of the times. Specifically, Subway station's toilets are definitely cleaner than any western toilet I've ever tried. Plus, they have a help button, bag hanger and, sometimes, a sound for when you do your more "rumorous" stuff to cover the bad sound. The only downside is that not everyone has toilet paper in it.

Forks and Knives
Forks and Knives are a problem. I live here and finding a good sharp knive for my house was a huge problem. In restaurants is extremely rare to find a knive, while you can still easily ask for a fork to the stuff.

Pedal
What is Pedal? It's basically Delivery. You call the place or use a app and order food. What's so special, you will ask? Well, in first place they can deliver anything at whicever time (even 3am) and whichever place (I once got delivered chicken in the middle of a park, yo!). In second place, if you order things to your house, they will be delivered with real plates and real culterly! Once you're done, you don't have to wash them or throw them away, just put them back in the bag and leave it outside. The Delivery Guy will come back to get them.

Have you ever heard of a hunting bar?

Have you ever heard of a hunting bar?

No, we're not talking about anything related to animals; the hunted prey is definitely not an animal! What if we tell you that in Korea you can find places where you can actually go for the specific purpose to find a girl/a boy?

South Korea is very famous for the high pressure that they put on dating. For the purpose of finding your soulmate there are sogetings, literally real blind dates organized by friends or family. Since the clock is ringing, you really have to find someone... But what if you just want to have fun, or if the friends introduced to you until now where kind of a flop?
Beside the classic 1:1 blind date, a (relatively) new way to meet people is going to specific places called "Hunting bars" where you aim to find someone to spend your night with in first place, then "maybe" your soulmate. To sum up, you basically go there to meet someone.

Hunting Bar have been around for a lot, but recently. because of Korea lifestyle and because young koreans want to have fun to relieve the stress, these places have become bigger and more common to find. If you go in an university area, you will easily find them. They're definitely easy to spot, considering that the names don't leave anything to the imagination. But how do they work?

To enter, man and women do two different lines. Then Girls only have to sit, chit chat and wait while drinking and eating. Actually, girls are really treated like queens, because it's up to the guy to approach the girl and ask them to join their table for a drink. in the more expensive ones it's the waiter to ask to the table on the behalf of the guys. The guys have to give a paper to the waiter with the number of the table and he will be their Cupid! There are 50% chances that the girls will accept; if not, next table!
You can try your luck and accept/refuse as much as you want. And when you find "your soulmate", as many advertisement of the hunting bar say, "you enter in one and leave in two".

And you guys? Do you want to try a "Hounting Bar" while in Seoul?
Our Suggestion is looking for hunting bar in Hongdae, few stops away from Ehwa (both on the green light).

the military service in Korea!

One thing that every kpop fan has to take into consideration is the military service in Korea!
Wether you stan a boy group member, a rapper, a solo artist or an actor -whoever you stand for, really- they will have to go to the army.
Korea is in fact one of the Country where the military service is still mandatory. Before the 30th year of age, every korean man has to take two years of hiatus from his life to go and serve into the korean Army. The first month is supposedly the hardest one, because they can't have a phone or snacks, or a laptop, or communicatewith the outside world. Then life gets a bit easier...but still not as comfortable as life out of the army. So, what can a fan do to help her loved idol to "survive"?

You can send Goodies or Letters. As easy as it seems, it's true that you can actually send stuff to your favorite drama actor or to your favorite singer....But, will you be able to find his name and where are they actually completing their service?
That's what we're here for!

We can set packages of snacks in your name, or prepare support food. We can print letters or send objects. We can do everything in your name and personally take them to the designated office to be sure that they will reach the right hands.
We either can send the package with objects previously purchased by you, or we can help you set a small (or big) set of snacks/plushie/gadgets for your idol. The service is offered to overseeas residents (we will take care of everything for you) or foreigners in Korea.
Our service is easy and communication with us will be smooth and easy, since our staff speaks english. This is not the first time we offer this kind of service, so just give us your list of goods and letters, and let us do the rest!

Buying/Shipping Service

You really like Kpop, but you absolutely can't speak korean?
You want a ticket for a kpop concert....but you're not korean?
You adore new tech, but no one has that new trendy product in your Country?
You saw some super cute limited edition plushies from BTS and you want them, but they're only made in Korea?

Fear not, we have the right service for you.

Often foreigners have a hard time in Korea, because a lot of services need korean bank account or korean number, such as for Point Card/membership discount, Shopping online, Interpark tickets.... Moreover, korean can become a really hard language if you need to read instructions in technical language, right? :(
No problem! What a better way to solve your problems than ask a korean to do it for you? If a native could help you buy and ship your products, as well as buy tickets or gadgets for you, you would surely feel in good hands, right? And that's what our service is about.

You can buy directly and ship the product to the guesthouse or let Danny Oppa buy a product for you (you'll be charged for the additional service). Then, once you have the desired product or ticket, you can use our shipping service.

Korean Posts can be really tricky; they offer different types of tracked or untracked mails, and they determine the price of shipping by weight. To quickly sum it up for you: all the countries in the World where you can ship to are grouped in Zones. For example, Italy is in the 3rd Zone. Depending on the zone, the price per weight gets higher, considering that the distance from Korea is more. But of course, you don't have to know that, we are just explaining WHY you could be charged an higher or lower price compared to another person.
After checking the total shipping cost, you will be charged a modest additional fee for our service.

Beside shipping service, we can provide other additional services such as:
- booking tickets
- searching for merchandise on spot
- searching for merchandise on the internet

We assure you maximum of transparency, quick waiting time and english speaking staff to help you go through the process veeeeery smoothly :)
 You'll surely be satisfied.
For inquiries and prices, please contact us through email, facebook or instant message

Ewha women univ market

Do you like Shopping? Do you like bargains? Then you really need to read or article!
If you're a student on a budget ( or just someone that wants to save money to eat more of our delicious sangyeopsal )
sometimes it's hard to shop for clothes. Seoul it's famous for its fashion, very cute and girly, yet unique, and a lot of trends start in the streets of this city. Beside Hongdae or Dongdaemun, a very cheap place to find clothes, shoes and accessories it's Ehwa Market.

Yep, you heard that well, it's basically two steps from our guesthouse and very close to the famous Ehwa Women University! The main street has a lot of cosmetic shops, - Labiotte, Belif and Loahcell fmonobrandstores included - while the side alleys are full of clothes shops. More often than not, you can find the same clothes sold in Hongdae, but for cheap. Another bargain are the shoes, even if we recommend to shop for more sporty shoes, while Hongdae is a better choice for the more elegant options. Sadly many stores have free size only clothes, and shoes sizes go from very small numbers (35 european size) to a max of 39EU.

While looking around for clothes, you can also find small coffeeshops, but even more often, you can find take away only coffee, where you can taste delicious frappes, lattes, juices or sweets (such as waffles).
Ehwa's Market might be famous for its clothes, but not everyone knows that the local street food is delicious! If you want to enjoy street food experience in Korea without visiting the infamously crowded Myeongdong, then you can go to Ehwa.

Fish and Wurstel based treats are the best, but you can also opt for a basic Egg bread, chicken or Odeng.

Many accessories and korean style clothes are waiting for you in Ehwa, and at a very cheap price! You can either go for a walk by yourself, or - with a modest service fee- you can hire our Danny Oppa as your guide
You can't visit Korea, but still you don't want to buy the overpriced clothes on Ecommerce sites? No problem! Another optional service of our guest house is buying products and shipping them for you. Please, refer to our blogpost about the service for further questions. ^^

Hanbok

If you ever got to see Corea during their holiday celebration, you've also surely seen the beautiful korean girls wearing the traditional korean outfit: Hanbok,
The translation of Hanbok is literally "korean dress" and, even thought it might seem strange to western people, it's currently considered a special occasion outfit, worn during the main holidays (Such as Chuseok, Seollal...).

An Hanbok is made by an upper part and a skirt, tied up by a belt. Originally it was made in solid colour such as blue and white, and was a very simple outfit. The fabric of the Hanbok of rich women was made of luxurious silk or cotton, but other than that the design was the same as the ones of poor girls. During the years the design changed drastically, with people adding rich and extravagant ornament to the fabrics. Now you can mainlyseen Hanboks with bright colors, glitters, flowers and a lot of gold embroidery.

We said that Hanbok it's still worn by girls and women nowadays, and during holidays you can see a lot of korean couples wearing the traditional ensable for a couple photoshoot in the street of Seoul, or more commonly on the Gyeongbokgung. Some korean fashion bloggers are even incorportating the hanbok in daily outfits, changing the traditional skirt with a shorter and modern one.

You don't have to be korean to wear an hanbok! koreans love to share their culture and they will surely appreciate your interest in their culture. If you want to wear one, you're more than free to do so...they might want to take a selfie with you, though. We warned you! Also, some  turist spots (like the Seoul Palace) are free for whoever wants to enter wearing an Hanbok.

A good place where to rent an Hanbok is Insadong, the traditional neighborhood of Seoul, but the hot spot of Hanbok Rental is near the  Gyeongbokgung, where you can find big sizes too. Take your time and check some stores before deciding where to rent an Hanbok, the longer the rental time, the cheaper the price.
And of course, if you need help or suggestions, you can always ask the manager Danny!

Jinhae Gunhangje Festival (진해군항제)

Jinhae Gunhangje Festival (진해군항제)

Jinhae is a district of Changwon province, a bit far from Seoul, but it's especially famous for the Cherry Blossom festivall held there for 10 days starting from the 1st of April. Jinhae may be a bit unaccessible if you don't speak korean, but it's definitely instagram worth it!

The view from Jehwangsan Park it's breathtaking. Through the park you can reach the Tower, one of the highest spots to admire the Cherry trees from up. The buildings get painted in pink, and the view is worth the small hike.

the most famous spot in Jinhae is the Yeowajcheon Stream, where the long stream is surrounded by wooden fences and cherry trees. Obviously it's also the most crowded spot and everyone has their camera ready to catch a glimpse of the beautiful cherry petal rain happening everytime the wind blows!

The instagrammable places in Jinhae available are not over, because another very famous spot is the Gyeonghwa station, where the railroad surrounded by blossoming trees offers wonderful chances to score a pretty picture. The pretty spot is really crowded, so we suggest to go as soon as possible.
In case you were too late...well, Jinhae is beautiful at night as well. While during the day it offers the View of the Victory Parade and various cultural activities take place, the city turns out to become an even prettier spot for the couples at night.
The stream is all lightened up, just like the park, and fireworks can be admired during the Festival time.
